Flint Healthcare Employment Opportunities (FHEO) Project Summary
The FHEO Project is a healthcare sector workforce development program whose community of concern is individuals that reside within the Renewal Community of Flint, a federally designated area based on census tracts, located in the city of Flint and Mount Morris Township, where there is a high rate of unemployment and whose residents are generally at the lower end of the income scale.
The goals of the project are to decrease unemployment within Flint and to improve the economic status of individuals living in the city’s Renewal Community by placing them in entry level healthcare jobs and then assisting them to advance into higher skilled healthcare positions and to meet the workforce and skills shortages in entry-level and mid-level healthcare occupations.
The FHEO Project is made possible with generous funding from the Aspen Institute, Charles Stewart Mott Foundation, Community Foundation of Greater Flint, and the United States Department of Labor.
