AFRICAN
The African American Family Resource Information Center and Network (AFRICAN) was an information network that was designed to reduce the racial disparities in infant mortality in our community. The purpose of the AFRICAN was to enhance, support and integrate the many programs in the community that focus on reducing this disparity.

Funding for the program, provided through a three year "Closing the Gap on Infant Mortality Disparity: African American-Focused Risk Reduction" demonstration grant from the Health Resource Services Administration (HRSA) and subcontracted through the Michigan Department of Community Health (MDCH), ended on September 30, 2007. Despite considerable efforts to sustain AFRICAN, the GFHC was unable to secure additional resources.
